Circa. 1790.

Timeless!

Georgian, George III Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase.

This impressive secretaire bookcase will certainly make its presence felt in your room but will also organise your life with so much storage space, ideal for all your office needs, storing your files, paper and laptop leaving plenty of space for writing on the beautiful tooled leather surface.

It is veneered in flame mahogany with Ogee moulded top frieze above a pair of square glazed doors with original lock, which is in working order with replacement key, and has three adjustable shelves.

The secretaire drawer has six drawers and twelve storage compartments (bottom right hand drawer has a brass replacement lock). The new blue leather writing surface has beautiful gold tooling. The brass lock is not original but probably Victorian and is in working order with replacement key. All above, a two door cupboard, with three sliding shelves inside (not adjustable). The top has an oval Patrae to the centre and Allorchino banding to edge with Ogee moulding.

The secretaire drawer can be removed for delivery and the top and bottom separate. All brass catches are original and in good condition. All doors and glazed panels have Astragal mouldings.

The note shown in the last picture was found inside this item and we assume that Mr.J.Gale of the Per Ardua Beagles Hunt was once the owner.

Size: 50” wide x 23” deep x 91.5” high
